Appearance: Shade wears a mask that that covers the outline of his eyes and nose. The mask resembles the skull of an Ox. He wears a magical dark black cloak that looks like black fog. It is very grim looking with jagged edges and moves in the direction the wind is blowing. It drapes from the hood all the way to his feet. What's makes it magical other than the foggy effect is that it allows the wearer to hover a few inches off the ground. Shade's mouth is covered with a black scarf; all that is visible is the mask.
Without the cloak, he wears a black jacket-like shirt with black pants to match it (similar to what Alviss wears). Dion has jet black hair with dark eyes and light skin. He is 6'3 and has an athletic body frame. No one from the Chess pieces or the knights has ever seen what he looks like under the cloak, he only takes it off when he sneaks away from the Chess to go somewhere.
Personality: Dion has two different personalities. When he is around the Chess Pieces and wearing the cloak and mask(Shade); he doesn't talk much and says very little. When he does talk he sounds very monotonous and deepens his voice. In other words he is emotionless. In battle he is very calm and ruthless.
When Dion is not around the Chess, he has a totally different personality. He is very outspoken and has emotion. He likes to joke around and laugh. He can be very sinister at times but not so much. He doesn't sound monotonous and speaks regularly.
History: Dion was born near Acalupa Port in a small town. Born into an average family being the oldest of his three siblings. He lived a normal life for the most part, he was always a loner. Never having any friends other than his family. The kids at his school never played with him or talked to him. He just sat there and watched them play. One day he looked at his shadow and started talking to it. Eventually that became his only friend. He would always play odd games with it and would talk to it for hours as if it was a real person. Dion claims that his shadow talks back to him. Not all the time but at certain times of the day it would communicate to him. People saw him as weird but his parents saw it as him being a kid. When he was 9, his shadow told him to runaway from his home and town. He trusted the shadow and would leave. Feeling sad that he would not see his family, Dion listened to the shadow.
Dion lived in the forest, listening to his shadow on how to survive. It became a guide to him. One day he noticed a group of bandits that were walking through the forest. He was not sure what to think of them and got the courage to approach them. They didn't hurt him, instead they gave him some bread and asked if he wanted to go with them. He would follow them to their hideout where they told him who they were. They were part of Luberia and they were a group of thieves that stole these things called Ärms. Dion was interested in these trinkets and the things they were able to do. He decided to join them and it was here that he learned how to use basic Ärms and about magic and mental power. Eventually he would have to leave with them to go steal Ärms and he knew it was wrong but his shadow told him not to worry about it.
Now age 16, The war games were interesting to Dion. He watched each one and wondered what was the purpose for the Chess to hold these games when they could have just taken over MAR Heaven. It seemed like a group of outcast mixed with anarchist. It felt like a place he could connect to; a place with people like him. Although he was doing fine with Luberia, he had gotten bored of stealing and wanted something more. The participants in the war games were very strong. He wanted to be like them. He looked to his shadow for advice and it said to look for the chess pieces(seeing as though the war games had ended). Before leaving, he would steal some stuff from Luberia and would be on his way to search for something that might not even exist anymore.
It was at this time that Dion took on the Shade persona and would wear the cloak and mask. After a few months of searching, he found some remaining Chess members and would then associate himself with them. Shade eventually joined them and would climb the ladder until he reached Knight level. His true motives for joining them is unclear but he feels that it is the right thing.
Other: The cloak he wears cannot be damaged, therefore making it transparent. Meaning that if he was to be struck on his arm it will hit what it underneath the cloak. Sometimes when he sneaks away from the chess he goes to his old family's house and leaves them fresh food.
